Your Purpose Is to Inform,

Technical writing is a specialized form of writing used to convey complex information in a clear and concise manner. It is commonly used in various fields such as engineering, computer science, healthcare, and finance. Here are the main points:

  1. Purpose: To make complicated information more accessible and understandable for a specific audience.
  2. Common Formats: Includes instruction manuals, user guides, reports, product specifications, and white papers.
  3. Audience: Can range from general consumers to professionals with specialized knowledge.
  4. Skills Required: Strong writing skills, the ability to understand and explain technical concepts, and proficiency in using various tools and software.
  5. Industries: Widely used in industries like software development, manufacturing, medical research, and more

Going through my course of technical writing for the most part I was surprised about the content of the course, I believed at first the course would be an extension of English 101. I was blind side when I began to learn how to focus in on my audience and take into consideration who I am writing the level of education the person may have, or how they may perceive it. I was always told to place myself in the shoes of my audiences ask the question as the reader than answer those question in my document. Blindly I learned about technical writing, sometimes I must admit I was lost and had to search for a deeper understanding of the basic material and terms. Yet like I said this not easy, and it requires commitment.
